Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Review (2014)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Being a big fan of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, I went into this with high expectations. Thankfully, those expectations were met.
Andy Serkis returns as Caeser in the second installment of the Planet of the Apes franchise, and it really feels like the Dark Knight of the series. Not only does it blow the first movie out of the water, but it really does take you places that you don't expect.
The director really knows his way around the setting of his world and has established Caeser as leader. When Andy Serkis is gone, you really feel yourself missing his presence.
The entire cast is fabulous, the story keeps your attention, it's emotional where it needs to be, and it really leaves you looking forward to the second one.
Only gripe is that the end feels a little long. By the end of it, you start to really feel the run time which makes it a hard movie to watch over and over again. 3.5 out of 5 stars. (Worth Ticket Price)
